Swedish unemployment rate decreased to 5.8 percent in November of 2017 from 6.2 percent in the same month a year earlier. It was the lowest jobless rate since October 2008, as the number of unemployed persons declined by 20 thousand to 308 thousand, while employment rose by 88 thousand to 5.035 million. The youth unemployment rate was 14.1 percent. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the jobless rate edged down to 6.6 percent from 6.7 percent in the previous month. Unemployment Rate in Sweden averaged 5.94 percent from 1980 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 10.50 percent in June of 1997 and a record low of 1.30 percent in July of 1989.
