Saudi Arabia´s GDP shrank 1.03 percent year-on-year in the second quarter 2017, following a 0.5 percent decrease in the previous period. It is the biggest contraction since 2009, as output shrank for mining and quarrying (-2.4 percent from -2.3 percent in Q1), namely crude and natural gas (-2.5 percent) and wholesale & retail trade, restaurants and hotels (-0.1 percent from 0.3 percent). Also, growth slowed for manufacturing (1.6 percent from 2.3 percent) and transport (0.8 percent from 1 percent). Meanwhile, the output for construction fell less (-1.6 percent from -3.2 percent), rebounded for electricity, gas and water (1.1 percent from -1.6 percent) and rose further for finance, insurance, real estate sector (1.9 percent from 1.1 percent). GDP Annual Growth Rate in Saudi Arabia averaged 4.31 percent from 1969 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 24.20 percent in the fourth quarter of 1973 and a record low of -20.70 percent in the fourth quarter of 1982.
