The unemployment rate in Poland fell to 6.6 percent in October of 2017 from 6.8 percent in the previous month, in line with market expectations. It was the lowest jobless rate since January of 1991 as the number of registered unemployed fell to 1.069 million compared to 1.117 million in September. Compared to October of 2016, decreases were seen in the share of unemployed persons not entitled to benefits (-0.7 percentage points to 85.9 percent); graduates (-0.2 percentage points to 4.0 percent) and people without professional qualifications (-0.1 percentage points to 30.8 percent). In contrast, the share of unemployed women was 1.7 percentage points higher at 55.9 percent. According to the Polish Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the unemployment rate is expected to decrease further in 2018. Unemployment Rate in Poland averaged 13.13 percent from 1990 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 20.70 percent in February of 2003 and a record low of 0.30 percent in January of 1990.
