Consumer prices in the Netherlands increased by 1.5 percent year-on-year in November of 2017, accelerating from a 1.3 percent rise in the previous month. Prices rose at a faster pace for : transport (3.1 percent vs 1.3 percent in October); housing and utilities (1.7 percent from 1.6 percent), and recreation and culture (2.2 percent vs 2.1 percent). Prices slowed for both food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.1 percent vs 3.4 percent) and restaurants and hotels (2.9 percent vs 3.5 percent). Meantime, inflation was steady for miscellaneous goods and services (1.4 percent). In contrast, cost fell further for both communications (-7.2 percent from -6.3 percent) and clothing and footwear ( -1.4 percent from -2.4 percent). Annual core inflation, which excludes energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, rose to 1 percent, compared to a 0.9 percent gain in October. On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.2 percent, compared to a 0.1 percent rise in October. Inflation Rate in Netherlands averaged 3.25 percent from 1971 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 11.19 percent in November of 1974 and a record low of -1.30 percent in February of 1987.
