Industrial output in Ivory Coast increased 5.3 percent year-on-year in March of 2018, following a 8.1 percent gain in the previous month. Output slowed for electricity, gas and water (1.5 percent from 2.9 percent in February); metallic products (41.8 percent from 56.7 percent); paper (1.9 percent from 4.1 percent) and glass, ceramics and construction materials (8.1 percent from 12.3 percent). Additionally, production fell further for mining (-18.2 percent from -3.0 percent) and wood and furniture (-13.8 percent from -4.9 percent). On the other hand, output rebounded for petroleum, chemicals, rubber and plastics (10.0 percent from -5.9 percent) and textiles and leather (11.5 percent from -0.1 percent). Also, production of food and tobacco rose faster (24.6 percent from 22.0 percent). On a monthly basis, industrial output went up 10.3 percent, after a 2.7 percent increase in the prior month. Considering the first quarter of the year, industrial output advanced 5.5 percent. Industrial Production in Ivory Coast averaged 4.56 percent from 1998 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 109.74 percent in April of 2012 and a record low of -11.80 percent in May of 2011.
