Consumer prices in Belgium increased 1.52% year-on-year in April 2018, following a 1.39% rise in the previous month. Prices advanced faster for housing & utilities (1.46% from 1.22%), food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.74% from 1.67% in March), transport (1.91% from 1.25%), miscellaneous goods & services (1.63% from 1.55%) and clothing & footwear (0.74% from 0.35%). On the other hand, prices rose at a softer pace for recreation & culture (0.87% from 1.86%), restaurants & hotels (1.36% from 2.42%), furniture & household equipment (0.18% from 0.28%), healthcare (1.03% from 1.68%) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.36% from 3.92%). Meanwhile, inflation was steady for education (1.66%, the same as in March) and prices continued to decline for communication (-0.56% from -0.33%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.3%, following a 0.14% gain in March. Inflation Rate in Belgium averaged 5.69 percent from 1921 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 222.81 percent in January of 1947 and a record low of -18.11 percent in October of 1921.
